Obituary

Funeral services for Sandra Louise Lambertson Mason, age 75, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted Friday, January 17 at 11 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Ann Hatcher officiating.Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mason passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, January 12, 2014 at Lincoln Care Center.

Mrs. Mason was born on October 17, 1938 in Wellsville, New York, the daughter of the late Dorothy Nye Lambertson and George Farrington Lambertson. She was the beloved wife of William Clarence Mason, former attorney and Mayor of Fayetteville, who passed away May, 1990.

She is survived by her twin sister Sally Nye Lambertson Phillips (Ronald/Buddy), brother-in-law Mike (Sheri) Mason, nephew Ron (Laura) Phillips, nieces Jean P. Netherland, Allison (Jeff) Thrower, Lisa (Todd) Cobern, Laurie (Devin) Lowrance, Claire Mason, nephew Lee (Brenda) Mason and many great nieces and nephews.

Her father’s naval career resulted in Sandra and her family living in several locations before coming to Fayetteville, TN, in January 1952. She graduated from Central High School in 1956 and received a B.S. Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1960. Sandra was a high school teacher in Nashville and Augusta, GA. She taught English at Central High School in 1964-1965. Sandra was the sponsor of Tiger Tales, the high school’s newspaper that she helped to start in 1955. She was a realtor and a businesswoman.
Sandra was a member of the First United Methodist Church and past member of the Alpha Kappa Club. She loved to garden and entertain in her home. Through the years her home was a haven for rescue cats, Cassie, Charmin, Little Bit and Kit.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday January 16, from 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
