Obituary

Charles “Chuck” William Freeman, age 93, of Meridianville, AL, passed away on October 21, 2023. Born on March 17, 1933, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Joe Thomas Freeman and Annie Phelps Freeman.

Chuck was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, during which he was stationed in the territory of Alaska. Following his military service, he earned his degree from Middle Tennessee State University. While attending MTSU, Chuck met the love of his life, Alice Storey, whom he married shortly after graduation, beginning a devoted partnership of 69 years.

Chuck dedicated 40 years to his career as an accountant for the City of Huntsville. Guided by a strong spirit of community service, he volunteered with the Red Cross for many years, performing critical damage assessment following disasters. In the autumn of 2001, shortly after September 11th, he took a relocation cruise from Spain back to the United States and then spent three impactful weeks assisting with disaster response efforts in New York City.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Alice Storey Freeman; and his daughters, Laurie Freeman and Linda Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Freeman.

Burial will take place at a future date at Shiloh Cemetery.
