Obituary

David Lewis Crawford, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on June 1 at the age of 82 in Fayetteville, TN. Born on May 29, 1944, to the late Sidney Johnson and Winnie Grace Jean Crawford, David lived a life centered on family and serving his community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann Franklin Crawford. Together they raised two children: daughter Bridgette Michelle Jones (husband Eric) and son David Brett Crawford (wife Amanda). Known affectionately as Gramps, David took great joy in his grandchildren: Walt, Jillian, and Eve Jones; Neyland, Reagan, Bristol, Paisley, Chesney, Joshlyn, and Gus Crawford. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Crawford, and sister, Carolyn McInnis.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Johnson and Winnie Grace Jean Crawford, and his siblings: Louise Pitts, Virginia McClanahan, Mildred Dunn, Johnson Crawford, Lillian Posey, William Crawford, Patricia Moyers, and Sandra Crawford.

David will be remembered as a hardworking man who enjoyed time with family. He was an employee of Amana, a lifelong farmer, former owner of Bellview Grocery, and retired after over 30 years of driving a school bus for the Lincoln County Schools. David was a County Commissioner for many years and enjoyed serving his community.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home with Tim Franklin officiating. Burial to follow at Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 12 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered comfort and support during this time with. Special thanks to the staff at Donalson Care Center and Lincoln Medical Home Health and Hospice.
