Marcella Kay (McCorkle) Scott, of Madison, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at Madison Hospital, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Eric, who were by her side. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, she was born on November 28, 1951, to the late Morris and Kathleen McCorkle.
Marcella was a proud 1970 graduate of Flintville High School and a member of Howell Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She lived a life defined not by titles or accolades, but by the quiet and meaningful ways she cared for others.
She was a talented seamstress whose hands created beautiful things with patience and care. She devoted much of her life to caring for children while also offering comfort, guidance, and love to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had a deep compassion for animals and rarely met one she didn’t want to rescue, feed, or love.
More than anything, she cherished her family. “Neenee” adored her two granddaughters and found joy in the simple moments spent with them. She loved gathering around good food, sharing stories, and making people feel at home. Her warmth made others feel safe, welcomed, and deeply cared for.
On May 21, she reunited with the love of her life, Roy Lynn Scott, just 15 months after his passing. The 52-year marital bond they shared never wavered. Their steady and enduring love was the foundation of their family.
Marcella’s life was rich in kindness, sacrifice, and love poured into others every single day. The legacy she leaves behind lives on in the people she nurtured, the family she loved fiercely, and the countless small acts of goodness that defined who she was.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Richardson, son-in-law, Eric Richardson, of Madison; beloved granddaughters, Nola Rose Richardson and Erin Kathleen “EK” Richardson; two sisters she loved deeply, Emily Snoddy (Jake) and Christine Roland (Calvin); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her sisters, Pretrica Wheeler, Amelia Maynard, and Joy Pullum; and her brother, Phillip McCorkle.
A funeral service celebrating Marcella’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home, with family friend Josh Beddingfield officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Plevna, Alabama. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Notorious D.O.G. Dog Rescue, 210 Stokes Street NW, Huntsville 35805.
We at Higgins Funeral Home are privileged to offer comfort, care, and support to the family of Marcella Kay Scott.
