Obituary

A celebration of life for Thomas Jefferson Sawyers, age 76, of Tullahoma, TN, will be conducted Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Graves officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Higgins Funeral Home.

Born in Lincoln County to the late Joe Virgil and Lela Jones Sawyers, Thomas was a man of quiet strength and profound kindness. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the Philippines. Known for his generous spirit, Thomas was a friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his children: Kimberly (Scott) Sawyers, Jeffrey Sawyers, Brian Sawyers, Jennifer Sullivan, and Francis Marie Steele; his brother, Billy “Bobby” (Rosalie) Sawyers; and a legacy of numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Wanda Hudson, Sadie Garrett, Virgil Sawyers, Larry Sawyers, Betty Gordon, Brenda Cowart.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Thomas Jefferson Sawyers.

    I had the pleasure of moving next door to Tom and Jeff this past May. Tom was so helpful and kind. He cut my grass..cleared out weeds and overgrowth in my back yard..checked on my house while I was out of town. I consider myself lucky to have known him and I will miss him.

    Tom was a good friend to my husband and I he was always there to help anybody in need me and him used to have some good fun outside in his shed. We was always working on something You will be missed my friend. go rest with the angels and your family.
