Obituary

Allan Wayne (Al) Peterson, age 80, of Fayetteville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Allan was born on April 3, 1945, in Loudon, Tennessee to the late Wayne L. and Ada Garrett Peterson. Al grew up in Lenoir City, Tennessee and graduated from Lenoir City High School in 1963 and later from Tennessee Tech.

Allan was a member of and taught Sunday School at Fayetteville First Baptist Church for many years.

Al was employed by SCI and most recently by Westar Corporation. He was an Amateur Radio Operator for over 60 years, although not always active, with the call sign WA4CUQ. He had a later passion for travel and photography.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Diana Lynn Peterson, grandson Henry Robert Peterson, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by: Children Kristie (Morgan) Sanders, Stacy (Chad) Hancock, Brian (Heather) Smith, and Robert (Megan) Peterson. Grandchildren: Brandon, Spencer (Shelby), Samuel, and Jackson Sanders; Caleb (Emily), Hannah, Kate, Benjamin, and Elijah Hancock; Lauren and Laya Smith, Avery and Jake Cochran. Great-Granddaughter, Avery Hancock. Niece and Nephew Angela Widner Cantrell and Eric Widner: Brother-in-law, Darrell (Marcia) Widner, Sister-in-Law, Teresa Helton Widner. Plus, a number of cousins and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the LCHS Robotics Team, 1233 Huntsville Highway, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at Noon on Saturday at the Higgins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
