Jerrel Wayne Haislip, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Donalson Care Center. He was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late James William “Willie” and Nannie Dale Haislip. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, G.C., James, Allen, and Harold Haislip.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Glennara; two daughters, Pam Haislip of Sweetwater, TN, and Carol Huff (Walter) of Ridgeland, MS; two grandchildren, Melanie Martin (Matt) of Natchez, MS, and Justin Huff (Brittney) of Brandon, MS; and six great-grandchildren Baylee, Ella, Matthew, and John Martin, and Elijah and Liam Huff; and several nieces and nephews.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed by the U.S. Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal for 32 years, where he worked to keep our defensive missile systems operational. He also served 29 years on the Fayetteville Water and Sewer Board. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 26, from noon until 2pm, with funeral services at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Medium Cemetery in Delina. Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Matt Martin of First Baptist Church, Natchez, MS, and Rev. Bruce McVey of First Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, TN.
