Funeral service for Mr. Billy Joe Cannon, age 74, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kelso Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home.

Joe was born on November 14, 1946 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Fred and Sissy Victoria Sisk Cannon. He worked at Copperweld as a machine operator until his retirement. Joe was a man who loved to aggravate people until they smiled, some would say he loved to do that more than eat, unless ice cream was being served and then he would take a pause long enough to eat a bite and then resume his aggravation. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, and cruise the water on his pontoon, but his greatest love was taking care of all of “his” children, blood didn’t define your relationship as his child. Joe was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. He passed away on April 24, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of fifty two years, Shirley Simmons Cannon; sons, Joey (Melissa) Cannon and Terry (Misty) Cannon both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Josh (Monica) Cannon, Jonathan Cannon, McKenzie Cannon, and Hannah Cannon; great-granddaughter, Hadley Jo Cannon; sister-in-laws, Judy Cannon of Fayetteville, Raynell (Jerry) Wilson of Hazel Green, Lois (late Milton) Pigg of Fayetteville, Lisa (late Manuel) Simmons of Flintville, and Shannon (late Bo) Richardson of Winchester; brother-in-laws, Jason Simmons and Jaime Simmons of Flintville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Bobby, J.B., and Edwin Cannon.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Billy Joe Cannon.
