Wilma Elizabeth Swinford Monks

Funeral service for Mrs. Wilma Elizabeth Swinford Monks, age 84, of Fayetteville will be conducted Wednesday at 2 pm at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Langford and Elder K.L. Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Monks passed away Monday morning at Lincoln Medical Center.

A native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Willie and Ola Clark Swinford, she was a homemaker and a member of the Briar Fork Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Maurice Monks, daughter Myra Monks, sister Mardell Moffett all of Fayetteville and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Monks was preceded in death by brother Edward Swinford and sister Mayme Colbert.

Those serving as pallbearers are Terry Monks, Larry Monks, Dennis Warren, Jimmy Sartain, Jeff Swinford and Chris Gibson.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 4-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Maurice, I intended to ask you about Wilma when I saw you at someone’s funeral and got sidetracked.
Even though I did not have a lot of interaction with Wilma she seemed like such a southern gentile lady. The picture of her looks so much like Mardell.
I know you will all miss here. May God comfort you all as only he can.

Myra, Maurice, and other family, I was saddened to hear of your loss. We always enjoyed visiting with your mother or seeing you all out in the community. I know you all are an extremely tight knit family. I pray God would grant you all strength during this difficult time.
