William Warren “Bill” Gill, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. William Warren Bill” Gill, Jr. age 90, of Petersburg will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday at Petersburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Beulah Wright and Doug Watt officiating . Burial will follow in Old Orchard Cemetery. Mr. Gill passed away Friday evening at his home.

A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William Warren, Sr. and Cooper Rice Gill, employed with NASA as an engineering technician for 25 years, had a beef cattle farm with around 80 brood cows, and a member of the Petersburg United Methodist Church. Mr. Gill was a veteran of the Army Air Force where he served for three and a half years. He married his wife, Carolyn in 1950. He was on the Lincoln County Planning Commission for 20 years, including 17 as Chairman, Fayetteville Electric Board of Directors, Vice Chairman, Production Credit Association Board of Directors, Colt Show Association Chairman, Old Orchard Cemetery Organizer and first Chairman, Loins Club President (and other offices), and Petersburg UMC Chairman and on the Board of Trustees.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn Collier Gill of Petersburg, sons Warren Gill and wife Lissa of Murfreesboro and Alan Gill and wife Teresa of Shelbyville, daughter Gloria Gill Meadows and husband Doyle of Fayetteville, grandchildren J. Alan Gill and wife Emily, Tyler Gill, William Gill, Greer Gill, Mindi Posey and husband Frank, and Caroline Meadows, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Gill.

Visitation with the family will be from 12-3 PM Sunday at Petersburg United Methodist Church.
