Funeral services for Mr. William “Bill” Sanford Green, age 86, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Jon Hathcock and Bro. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Green was a native of Lincoln County and son of the late James Orville and Mattie Dryden Dunn Green. He was a Supply Sargent with the US Army, a Shriner – York Rite, former member of Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge #68, 50 year Mason and Life Member, and a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Mr. Green was a local barber with Green’s and Please U Barber Shops, and worked for Whites Dairy Supply for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Fowler Green; daughter Deloris (Rick) Green Gaines of Fayetteville; granddaughters Brittany Green and Brooke (Fiance Mackenzie Cross) Green; step-granddaughters Michelle Gaines, Meredith Gaines, and Nikki Gaines; step-great-grandchildren Christian Gaines and Jagger Williams; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James Green and sisters Evelyn Flynt and Rebecca Moyers.
Visitation with the family will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville First Baptist Church building fund. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. William “Bill” Sanford Green.

Doc Clark, Joe Ed Graham, and Bill Green were the 3 “main men” on the southeast corner of the square in the 60’s and 70’s. I can’t begin to list all the young men that worked at Cavaliers and would hang out next door with Mr. Bill. What a fine man that touched the lives of many.

Loved Mr Bill… Remember him talking with my dad when he would come to the dairy when he worked for Whites Dairy Supply.. He could always make you smile… Great family.. Loved his sister Evelyn Flynt.. so sorry for your loss…
