Walter Jack Reeves was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas December 3, 1933 to the late Walter and Louise Reeves. He was a resident of Fayetteville, Tennessee. Mr. Reeves was employed in several capacities including industrial construction and the Texas and Pacific Railroad where he was a diesel locomotive fireman. He was a Radio disk jockey in Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana for seven years. He retired from Ford Motor Company Chicago Stamping Plant after 30 years of service. He was a journeyman electrician in the plant engineering department. Mr. Reeves served in the U. S. Navy at Point Mugu Missile Test Center at Oxnard, California and aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Kidd (DD661) where he was an electronics technician.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean Smith Reeves of Fayetteville, Tennessee; daughter, Susan (Alan) Wilkins, of Wylie, Texas; step-children, Patricia Shipp Lieb, of Spring Hill, Florida, Paul (Camille) Shipp, of Interlachen, Florida, Vanessia (Mike) Steelman, and Erica (Joe) Gibbs; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Evelyn Madding of Odessa Texas; first wife, Rachel Louise Hawkins Shipp, and two step-sons, Ricky and Gary Shipp.
Funeral service for Mr. Walter Jack Reeves will be Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11 am at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester, Tennessee, with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 9 am until time of service at 11 am at Higgins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
