Virginia Haney Bigham

Graveside service for Mrs. Virginia Haney Bigham, age 92, of Scottsboro, AL, will be conducted Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Stewart’s Creek Cemetery with Bro. Tim Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her first husband, William Virgil Haney, Sr. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Bigham.

Mrs. Bigham, a native of Fayetteville, TN, was born on April 23, 1925 to the late Aron Jackson and Fannie Mae Pigg Eslick. She worked as bookkeeper at Avalon Dairies, Inc. for approximately 30 years and served as secretary/treasurer of the company. She also worked as a bookkeeper at CFW Construction Co. for several years. Virginia was a wonderful mother, wife, friend, and devout Christian. She was a lifelong member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Bigham passed away on January 22, 2018 at Comfort Care Hospice in Scottsboro, AL.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Haney Schremser, Montgomery, AL; son, William Virgil Haney Jr., Woodville, AL; stepson, Tommy Bigham (Mickie), Fayetteville, TN; stepdaughters, Tammy Bigham Dean (Doug), Hazel Green, AL and Cherry Smith, Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, John Joseph Schremser III (Britney), Montgomery. AL, William Michael Haney, and Kristen Michelle Haney; and great-grandchildren, Ava Grace and Britton Davis Schremser, Montgomery, AL.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Tom Spain Bigham, Fayetteville, TN; brother, J.W. (Jack) Eslick, Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Lucile Haney Ingle, Fayetteville, TN and Mary Anna Hamilton Eslick, Jacksonville, FL; mother-in-law, Bertha Locker Haney; son-in-law, John Joseph Schremser II, Montgomery, AL; daughter-in-law, Linda C. Haney, Woodville, AL; and stepson, Scotty Bigham, Fayetteville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Virginia to the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 1015 Lewisburg Hwy, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
