If everyone had parents like mine, there would never be a child go to sleep wondering if they were loved. Mom had a special way of making everyone in the family feel like they were her favorite. She has left us with a legacy of love and support. The selfish side of me wanted her to stay, but I know where she is and who she is with. What a time they are having. She fought the good fight and is receiving her reward.

Love You Mom,

Number Two Son

A beautiful person inside and out. Always a joy to be around. A very uplifting and loving person. She married my brother and joined our family when I was a child so I’ve never known life without her, seems like another sister to me. She and Rit were a powerful, loving couple who will never be forgotten. We’ll all miss you, Virginia! Our loss is heaven’s gain!!

Well where do start thanking your second mother? I guess the best way to start would be to tell “Virginia” that her beautiful heart lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Little Mamaw and Mama-Jama is what I often called her during the years she lived in our home. I will always remember her telling us she wanted to “pay her board” by doing chores around the house. Seemed that there were some chores that she was eager to do and some she didn’t think applied. I will always remember her improvisational skills when we took her step stool away for her safety. We didn’t realize that this presented a vertical challenge for her to unload clothes from the washer. But not to be deterred from the chores she chose to do, she formed an effective reach tool from a couple of hangers and forged ahead.

Virginia was Mamaw to anyone who needed her wise words and support. There are not words enough to say what a wonderful person she was, but the smile that comes to me when I think of any of the great experiences my family had with her is my best effort to say how much I loved her.

I am excited for her to be reunited with Papaw!!! I am sure when they have a meal in heaven, she can have anything she wants — even if it would have cost more than his meal.

Thank you for everything you did for us. Rest easy, Little Mamaw.
