Truvella Whisenant Laten Tarpley

Funeral services for Mrs. Truvella Whisenant Laten Tarpley, age 86, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. William “Bill” Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens next to her first husband, Harlan Laten. Mrs. Tarpley was a native of Marshall County, Alabama and daughter of the late Gordon and Mittie Lou Dunn Whisenant. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary of Fayetteville, and was the owner of Country Gal Mall and Dress Shop in Park City.

Survivors include her step-son David (Kris) Tarpley; step-grandchildren Lauren Tarpley and Cameron Tarpley; sister Nelle Dean (Ed) Hambrick; niece and caregiver Joan Ables; special friends Mildred Hummel, Elsie Rogers, and Wendy Winsett; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband Walden Tarpley; son Danny Laten; daughters Mary Laten and Waldenia Tarpley; and siblings Coolidge Whisenant, Henry Porter Whisenant, Sovola Hayes,a nd Vonola Osbourne.

Visitation with the family will be 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Tarpley. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mrs. Truvella Whisenant Laten Tarpley.
