It is with regret we announce the passing of Tony Ray League, age 59, of Fayetteville, TN. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday January 11, 2022, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Higgins.
Tony was born March 6, 1962, in Madison County, AL to the late Austin and Hazel League. He was a sheet metal fabricator at Schwartze Industries in Huntsville and previously worked several years at Franke in Fayetteville. Tony enjoyed several hobbies, but was particularly a car buff, as he loved driving and working on Mustangs and vintage cars. He also enjoyed spending Saturdays with his sisters when possible.
Tony is survived by his sisters, Lynn (Butch) Stubblefield of Petersburg, and Barbara Ann Maynard of Arab, AL; sister-in-law, Debbie (Randall) League of Grant, AL; several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and he was known as Papa to Danielle Schwartz whom he loved dearly. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue (Jimmy) Ikard; and brothers, Randall League and Austin “Sonny” League Jr.
The family kindly request that masks be worn at the visitation and funeral service. Masks will be provided by Higgins Funeral Home.
