Funeral service for Mr. Thomas Eugene “Tommy Gene” Smith, age 77, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born on September 2, 1940 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Carl Wilson and Pat Curtis Smith. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era helping load the first cavalry division for deployment to Vietnam and later worked for Lincoln Paving for 44 years. Mr. Smith passed away on April 22, 2018 at Donalson Care Center.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Kathryn “Kathy” Gray Smith; daughters, Gina Slatton and Tangie (Jeff) Street all of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren, Thomas Slatton and Joshua and Jordan Street; brothers, Steve (Pat) Smith and Sloan (Kay) Smith; sisters, Marie Bevels of Pulaski, TN, Pat Knott, Ellen (Billy Joe) Doss of Petersburg, TN, and Brenda Anderson of Fayetteville, TN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Smith.
Visitation with the family will be held at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Tommy Smith.
