Thomas C. Schweitzer

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas C. Schweitzer, age 87, of Fayetteville will be conducted Wednesday at 11AM at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church with Mother Julie Johnson and Father Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown, CT later this week.

Mr. Schweitzer passed away Sunday in Donalson Care Center.

He was a native of Dunmore, PA and the son of the late Conrad and Iva M. Butler Schweitzer. Mr. Schweitzer was a former employee of Scovill Manufacturing and retired from Amana Refrigeration. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 90th Infantry Division and Co I 358 Infantry in Normandy. Mr. Schweitzer was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation and the E.T.O. Ribbon with Battle Star. A life member of Oakville Post #7330 in Oakville, CT, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #1928 Shelbyville, TN. He was a member of the Leroy Woodward Post #5 in Watertown, Ct. a member of the Association National Des Croix De Guerre Dex T.O.E. ET Dela Valeu Militaire (The French Crois De Guerre). He was a 50 year member of Andrew Jackson #68 Lodge in Fayetteville, All York Rite Bodies of Fayetteville, Knight of the York Cross of Honor, 32nd Degree Mason of Connecticut- Scottish Rite, Andrew Jackson Chapter #370 Order of Easter Star in Fayetteville, TN, Watertown Chapter #96 Order of Eastern Star in Watertown, CT and a member of Old Hickory Conclave Red Cross of Constantine.

Survivors include a cousin Edward James Butler of Scranton, PA

Visitation will be Tuesday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
