Shirley Jean Smith Reeves

Funeral Service for Ms. Shirley Jean Smith Reeves, age 80 will be conducted Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 2:00pm at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Reeves was born on March 10, 1940 to the late Edward Ovie and Sarah Corine Watson Smith in Winchester, TN. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School. She was a Central lab technician at Frito Lay until her retirement. After retirement, Shirley loved to travel, spend time at the beach, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and was very involved with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Vanessia (Mike) Steelman of Fayetteville, TN and Erica (Joe) Gibbs of Mansfield, TX; step children, Susan (Alan) Wilkins of Wiley, TX, Patricia Shipp Lieb, of Spring Hill, Florida, Paul (Camille) Shipp, of Interlachen, Florida, Jeremy Weidig of St. Louis, MO, and Kim Whitcher of Adrian, MI; grandchildren, Ryan (Chelsea) Steelman, Morgan Steelman, Tyler Gibbs, Trey Gibbs, and Tanner Gibbs; great-grandchild, Eric Steelman; and 16 step grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband’s, Carey Lester Smith and Walter Jack Reeves; brother, James Edward Smith; step daughter, Jackie Weidig; and step son Greg Smith.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 12pm to 2pm at Higgins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

In accordance with State of Tennessee Executive Order issued by Governor Bill Lee, social gatherings are limited to no more than 50 participants. So sorry to hear of the passing of Miss Shirley. She was a very sweet lady. Worked with her at Frito-Lay. Thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Shirley’s passing. I worked with her for years at Frito Lay. She was always a joy to be around. My prayers are with her family.

Loved Ms Shirley so very much, we had lots of fun, and shed some tears over the years at Eagle Snacks and Frito Lay. She was such a lady at all times. She love d her family and talked of them all the time. She will be truly missed by all who loved and knew her.

We will also miss Shirley . We shared a long friendship dating back several decades in Cresson, Tx and more recent visits when she and Walter cane back to Tx to visit. Lots of fun memories?
