Shari LaVerne Daniels Maddox

Shari LaVerne Daniels Maddox was born on December 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles and Ella Daniels; the third of five children. She accepted the Lord at a young age and was baptized at City Temple SDA Church.

It was at City Temple where she met her loving husband, Vincent Maddox. They would come together as husband and wife on June 1, 1985. Shari loved to sing, read, and cook. She served as Church Assistant Clerk, on the Hospitality Committee, Deaconess Team, Branch Sabbath School, and sang in the choir at the Ecorse SDA Church in Ecorse, Michigan. Shari loved being a housewife. She was known for getting up early to prepare breakfast, lunch, and to worship with Vince before he left for work.

In November 2003, Vincent and Shari would relocate to Elora, Tennessee. They would join the Fayetteville First SDA Church family.

Shari departed this life on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at home, with Vincent by her side. She leaves to mourn her husband, Vincent Maddox, of 39 years; four brothers and their spouses Charles Daniels, Jr., Reginald and Kettlie Daniels, Joel and Kimberly Daniels, Antwan and Nikki Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

A funeral service to honor Shari’s life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home, with Dr. Theodore Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 12 PM until 2 PM on Sunday, February 16th at Higgins Funeral Home.

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above riches. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-12.

I met Shari one time, and her smile and the time we spent hiking left an indelible footprint on my heart. I have loved her from the day I met her and always shared that love with her nieces who were never blessed with the opportunity to meet her. You will be missed “Aunt Shari.”

Shari and I were one year apart in age. We felt the thick cousin bond, and whenever we could, we would spend a little time chatting about life. We were both singers, and I was SO PROUD OF HER as she sang on the stage of Cobo Hall in Detroit for General Conference! She was only about 6 years old! I remember that event like it happened yesterday. See you in the morning Cuz!!
