Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Sarah Katherine McElyea Koonce, age 75, of Elora, TN, will be conducted at 2 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Elora Cemetery with Rev. Malcolm Gardner and Bro. Ricky McElyea officiating. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Koonce.
Sarah was born on March 18, 1944 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Thomas and Doris McElyea. She was a godly lady that loved the Lord with all of her heart. Sarah Koonce passed away on March 31, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Charles Reedus Koonce; son, Milton (Genia) Koonce of Elora, TN; daughters, Candie Mitchell of Fayetteville, TN and Kim (Tim) Howard of New Market, AL; sister, Reba (Dale) Jones of Flintville, TN; brother, Ricky McElyea of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Nicholas (Andrea) Helums, Brandon (Niki) Helums, Shawna (Brady) Moore, and Zachary Koonce; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Neylan, and Kadence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Hill, and a brother, Ray McElyea.
Visitation with the family will be held at 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home.

Katherine arrives, alone, at the home of the woman Elena and Rebekah had first talked to when they got to town and retrieves her “package” – the real cure and the key to securing her freedom. Later, Katherine confronts Elijah on the street and tells him that he was right: she’s told so many lies to survive for so long, she’s beginning to believe them herself.
