Samuel Earl Muse

Samuel Earl Muse, 66, of Fayetteville, found eternal peace on Monday, October 6, 2008. Son of the late Samuel Horace and Ophelia Katherine Koonce Muse, he was born in Milan, TN on November 6, 1941. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Eugene Muse. Sammy is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Wilma Dooley Muse, his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Muse and Bob Chappin, grandson, Samuel David and granddaughter Katherine Anne of Murfreesboro, TN, his sister, Madolyn Hamlett of Pulaski, TN mother-in-law Evelyn Dooley of Fayetteville, TN nephews Mike Hamlett of Creskill, NJ, Mark Hamlett of Pulaski, TN niece Melissa Dixon of Locust, NC, aunt Ruth Nugent of Calaway, FL, and several great nieces, nephews and cousins, also special friends Winston and Carolyn Brooks and family, and Charlie and Marie Swearingen.

Sammy was a dedicated husband, loving father and proud grandfather. He spent decades as an avid UT football fan. He served his community and state as a Lions Club Member beginning in 1988. As a member, he served as President of the Fayetteville Lions Club, Past District Governor of 12-S, Leo Chairman, and member of the Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Service. He was also a past member of the Masonic Lodge. He graduated from Fayetteville Central High School in 1960 and was retired from Sherwin Williams. He was a member of Fayetteville Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30am at the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Dr. Calvin Todd, Winston Brooks and Frank Young officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Higgins Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers are David Harrison, B.J. Blankenship, Phil Brooks, Chris Phillips, Don Smith, Billy Askins, Mark Hamlett, Jack Hoffman and Gene Staats. Honorary pallbearers include member of the Fayetteville Lions Club, District 12-S Lions, Frank Young, Don Combs, James Morgan Toon, Jim Neale, Paul Mathis, Dean Harshbarger, Winston Brooks, Ben Brooks and Dexter Sullivan.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations be made to Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Services, 911 Westside Court, Murfreesboro, TN 37130.
