Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Fanning Davis, age 84, of Elora will be conducted Friday at 1:00PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Hill and Bro. Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Elora Cemetery. Mrs. Davis passed away Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln Medical Center.
She was a native of Madison County, AL and the daughter of the late Talley and Vera Gattis Fanning. Mrs. Davis was employed at the S & J Grocery at Vanntown for 24 years and was a member of the Donaldson Grove Baptist Church at Elora.
Survivors include four children, Sandra Linder and husband Jim of Jamestown, TN, Gary Davis and wife Marilyn of Murfreesboro, Stephen Davis and wife Yvonne of Elora and Stanley Davis and wife Jo of Vanntown, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, two brothers Raymond Fanning of New Market, AL, Joe Fanning of Dallas, TX, and two sisters, Jessie Braswell of Dallas, TX, and Mary Thornton of the Hot Rock Community. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Eugene “Gene” Davis, brothers and sisters Louis Fanning, Bernice Campbell, Virginia Campbell, Ray Fanning and Porter Fanning, and one grandchild Danny Davis.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening 5-8PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
