Ruth E. Fife

Mrs. Ruth E. Fife, age 85, of Cedartown, Ga., passed away on Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017 following an extended illness. Mrs. Fife was born on August 7, 1931 in Brownsville, Tennessee, daughter to the late James Fred Edmonds & Lenora Tate Edmonds. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Pressley Fife and Son-in-law Gary Stroup.

Ruth loved her family and friends and showed that love personally and from her deep religious convictions and her faith. While in Tennessee, she was very active within the Women’s Ministry of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, TN, serving all the way up to the Synodical level. She was an avid member of the Fayetteville Music Club and the Fayetteville Home Demonstration Club. Ruth loved and followed God, wherever He sent her.

A true Prayer Warrior, she held that distinction while being both a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and when she came to Cedartown & worshipped as an associate member of the Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church. When prayer was needed, folks called on Ruth, because they knew that her prayers were certainly heard.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Stroup; her step granddaughter, Sheena Stroup Pilcher and her step great grandson, Nickolas Gary Pilcher; other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday morning, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. ET from the Sanctuary of the Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rebecca Holmes officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. CST with the Rev. Bryan Bult conducting committal services at graveside. The family will greet friends at the Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday morning immediately following the service.

Susan, Gary and I were saddened to hear of Mrs. Ruth’s passing. She was a lovely lady, and she was our Sunday School teacher for many years. You will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.
