Ruth Cash Tucker

Funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Cash Tucker, age 87, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Thomas and Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband, Lawrence T. Tucker, in Lincoln Cemetery.

Mrs. Tucker was born on March 26, 1931 in Lincoln County, TN to the late J.D. and Ettie Stevenson Cash. She was a member of Howell Hill Church of Christ and worked as a nutritionist at the UT Home Extension Office. Ruth enjoyed cooking and canning. She was a founding member of the Howell Hill Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Tucker passed away on June 11, 2018 at her residence.

Survivors include her son, Mike Tucker; daughter Susan Bassham; grandchildren, Braden (fiance Ashley Slone) Bassham, Blake Bassham, Ben Bassham, and Shelli (Tony) Howard; and great-grandchildren, Michaela Webb, Tucker Webb, and Greycen Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lucille Haney and Dean Cash.

Visitation with the family will be held at 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Higgins Funeral Home. Higgins is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Ruth Cash Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Howell Hill Church of Christ Building Fund, 472 Old Lincoln Rd, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

I’m so sorry for your loss. We’ll be praying for y’all during this time. Mrs. Tucker was a sweet lady. I remember when she would come to school to teach us about nutrition. She will be missed.

Susan and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.. I know she had been in poor health and the struggle had become more challenging. I know you took good care of her and what a blessing that she was able to die at home! She was such a sweet lady, I am so sorry for the pain in your heart. Shelli, I know how precious your Meme was to you, and how much she filled up your life. I always enjoyed listening to your adventures. She lived every moment to the fullest. I know her death leaves a giant hole in your heart, but I fully believe that she is rejoicing with our King and watching over you and your family. My deepest condolences to you, my friend.

It was always a happy day when Miss Ruth came to Blanche School as part of her job with the UT Extension Office. I was always so happy to see her coming in the front day and sad to see her leaving. She was a special lady!
