Ruth Ables Douglas

Graveside service for Mrs. Ruth Ables Douglas, age 84, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Kelso Cemetery with Bro. Joe Wayne McGee officiating. Mrs. Douglas passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mrs. Douglas was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late R.A. and Virge Locker Ables. She was a homemaker, a member of the Harms Church of Christ and the Sr. Round Dozen.

Survivors include daughter Jennifer Douglas Trott and husband Daniel of Shelbyville, TN, son Glen T. Douglas and wife Brenda of Fayetteville, grandchildren Drew Norman and Samuel Douglas, sisters Ernestine Wilson of Fayetteville, Faye Pylant of Columbus, GA, Kathleen Smith, Dixie Offutt both of Huntsville, AL, brothers Bruce Ables, Don Ables both of Fayetteville, and Lex Ables of Franklin, TN. Along with her parents, Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her husband Richard Douglas, son Richard Byrd Douglas and brother Charles Ray Ables.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

Ruth was such a sweet person. So kind to everyone. She certainly will be missed. My heart goes out to you Jennifer and Glenn.

Loved Ruth and Richard both were great people . Two of my mom and dads best friends!! . Now they can be together again… Praying for peace and comfort for the family..

The Brazelton and Ables families were good friends. Attending church and school with different family members. Sorry to hear of Ruth’s death.
