Ron Mitts

Funeral services for Ron Mitts, age 51, of Taft, TN, will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Moore officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 2:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.

Ron was born on March 18, 1974, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Michael Gale Mitts and Patricia Ann Harding Mitts. A 1992 graduate of Lincoln County High School, Ron was known for his love of the outdoors—especially time spent at the lake—his passion for target shooting, and playing guitars. A devoted hockey fan, he enjoyed cheering on the Huntsville Havocs. Most of all, he cherished his role as “Grandpa Ron” and the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren. Ron passed away on May 22, 2025.

In addition to his parents, Ron is survived by his sons, Michael Mitts (Abby) and Patrick Mitts (Heather Patrick); grandchildren, Kaden Mitts and Harper Mitts; brother, Curtis Mitts (Candra); and nieces and nephews, Colin Mitts, Rebecca Mitts, and Kelly Mitts, along with her son, Bryar. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Mitts.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Ron Mitts.

Pat and Family,
I was heartbroken to hear of Ron’s passing. He was such a dear friend, and I have so many wonderful memories with him that I will always treasure. Ron had a way of making people feel welcome, understood, and appreciated—his friendship was truly a gift in my life.

Though words fall short in times like these, I take some comfort in imagining Ron and Kevin together again, casting lines and sharing laughs as they fish in Heaven’s calm waters.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this difficult time. May peace find its way to your hearts, and may Ron’s love and memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.

With deepest sympathy,
