Mr. Robert N. Edwards, Sr., age 87, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday January 1, 2009 at Donalson Care Center. He was the son of the late James A and Ida Warden Edwards. He was a WW II veteran, proudly serving his country in the Army in France and Germany. Mr. Edwards was retired from Amana Refrigeration and was a dedicated father and husband and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Magaline Ables Edwards of Fayetteville, sons Benny Edwards of Fayetteville, David (Daina) Edwards of Cordova, Tommy Edwards of Columbia, Dr. Bill (Amy) Edwards of Fayetteville, two daughters Allison (Jim) Greene of Huntsville, and Betty Edwards of Fayetteville, nine grandchildren James Robert, Nathan, Sofia, Faith, Annabelle, Alex, Rhiannon, Shelly (Perry) Phillips and Shannon (Troy) Nixon, two great grandchildren Emily Stringer and Chace Nixon, one brother William (Ruth) Edwards and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers James, Harold and Horace Edwards, two sisters Helen Wells and Elizabeth Vantrease and one son Bobby N. Edwards Jr.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Brother Ronnie Gay and Brother Gene Fanning officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5-7PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
