Funeral services for Ricky Joe Maddox, age 65, of Fayetteville, will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Ann Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Don Dickey, Bill Cunningham, Stan Golden, Stanley Trenham, Frank Jennnings, and Raymond Burton serving as pallbearers.
Ricky was a native of Fayetteville, Tennessee and born on January 18, 1952 to the late Joe Rowe and Virginia Rochester Maddox. He served in the Army National Guard and retired from Jack Daniels on June 1, 2017 after 36 years of bottling Tennessee Whiskey. Ricky enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter Brandy (Chris Banks) Maddox of Huntland; son Brandon (Ashley) Maddox of Fayetteville; and grandchildren Matthew Banks, Tyler Banks, Bayleigh Maddox, Easton Maddox, and Mackenzie Maddox. In addition to his parents, Mr. Maddox was preceded in death by a brother Bill Maddox.
Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at Higgins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kids Hunting for a Cure, 112 Bright Road, Hazel Green, Alabama 35750 or www.kidshuntingforacure.org.

Worked side by side at Amana!
Just talked to him at Walmart a few weeks ago!
Thought the world of him!

Ricky was a longtime friend, neighbor, and co-worker at Jack Daniel’s.
When someone in our family deceased, you could always count on him to be one of the first ones to show up.
I could also count on him to lend a helping hand. All I had to do was ask.
My sincere sympathy goes out to his children and family.

Ricky was a great guy. While I did not know him well, he has been a regular customer though my department for all the 11 years I have been there. And will be missed. He crossed my mind today and it concerned me as I had not seen him since last week.
I knew of his battle from our talks. One thing he told me is so very true. I will share his words to me.
“Wayne if there is anything you want to do, do it. There are things I want to do but now I probably never will. ”

I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve know Ricky for many years; he was such a nice guy! I had a flat tire after work one day and he stopped to help me fix it. My prayers to his family.

Ricky was one of Kids Hunting for a Cure’s earliest supporters. A great outdoorsman and friend. We will surely miss him.

Brandon and Brandy, Our families have been friends for a long time. When I was little I would go with my Mother to see Mrs Rochester and Mother would buy our Christmas Cards. Mrs Rochester always had a special treat for me. Virginia and I were friends and played bridge together sometimes. Brandon and my grandson, Joseph Caldwell are friends. Brandy I remember you when Virginia would bring you and Brandon to church. Ricky was always so nice to me and always had time to talk. I wold always ask him when he was going to get a hair cut. Ricky was a true friend. I first met him when he was in high school, and I began teaching at Central. I loved him then and we have remained friends through all these 47 years.
He was an avid supporter of the Lincoln County Warrior Exhibit. He helped us so much in so many ways by researching names of veterans whose pictures should be in the Exhibit as well as financially supporting it.
Many thanks, Ricky! You were a Prince of a Guy and will always be remembered by all who knew you!

I am so sorry to hear of Ricky’s passing. He was a good friend to me for many years and became a valued and supportive customer when I opened my business. I always enjoyed visiting with him and reminiscing about the good ol’ days and talking about hunting and fishing. He will be missed.

Sending prayers for Ricky’s family. He was one of a kind, always the same ” sweet Ricky”. Last time I talked to him was at my brothers funeral in April. He seemed to be at peace with whatever plan the Lord had for him. Rest well, buddy. Glad to have known you all these years.

Ricky will be Missed so much by his JD Friends. Taken Too Soon from us. He loved his job and being around everyone at work, he brought us the Fayettville cookbook everytime it was published, and personally delivered it to each of us, Thank You Ricky for your Friendship. I Love You

I thought the world of this man! Cut his hair for many many years . He was a friend who you knew you could count on. He loved his family and was a good son to his mother, Ms Virginia. We had many talks about God and his beliefs so I know without a doubt that Ricky is in Heaven. I will miss him so much!!
