Richard Granville Mills

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Richard Granville Mills, age 90, of Mt. Juliet, TN, will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ron Wood officiating.

Mr. Mills was born on December 15, 1927 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Willie Joe, Sr. and Callie Millstead Mills. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and later worked for Ford Glass Company in Nashville for 30 years. Mr. Mills passed away on June 5, 2018.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia Ann Mills; children, Rik (Sherrie) Mills of Dallas, TX, Robert (Tracy) Mills of Cleveland, TN, and Catherine (Daryl) Brazier of Mt. Juliet, TN; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clady Robertson of Birmingham, AL and Janice (Jim) Zielinski of Huntsville, AL; and brother, Dan (Priscilla) Mills of Fayetteville, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Joe Mills, Jr., Lila Logan, Viola Stevenson, and Douglas Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Richard Mills.

I love you all and have always said how much Richard’s kindness to me when I was a young boy meant to me. No doubt, I am a better man because of his influence in my life.
