Richard Daniel Schmook, Sr.

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Richard Daniel Schmook, Sr., age 85, of Grayson, GA, will be conducted at 4 PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens: Garden of Honor. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Richard was born on January 18, 1937, in Chicago, IL to the late Richard Albert and Ella Lillian Kuk Schmook.  Richard was a graduate of Kelly High School class of 1955. His family owned and operated KUK Dairy in Chicago for many years providing milk to all the schools.  He was a devout Christian, and his family was one of the founding members and he was a deacon at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL. Mr. Schmook served on the school board at St. Andrew Lutheran School and coached baseball. Richard served in the US Army and was a communication specialist with missile and command. He enjoyed fishing. Mr. Schmook had a 42-year career with Wester Electric and ATT, Lucent Technologies. Mr. Schmook was also a member at Sola Fide Lutheran Church & Academy in Lawrenceville, GA.

Richard married Cecilia Marie Rokita on November 5, 1960. Richard and Cecilia were childhood friends and neighbors. To their union, they had four children, Ken (Lavon) Schmook of Fayetteville, TN, Richard (Denise) Schmook, Jr. of Winder, GA, Steven (Tina) Schmook of Chicago, IL, and Larry Schmook of Burford, GA. Additional survivors include their grandchildren, Keely, Michael (Chrissy), James, Kristopher, and Kevin (Katlyn); five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

We just love them both, Ceil was a cook at St Andrew with my mom. Richard was always on a board there and they were the kindest most loving couple. Richard will be missed. Gods blessings to all of the family

It’s is always difficult to lose a loved one, but we hope wonderful memories bring comfort to the family during this sad time, along with peace knowing Mr. Schmook was well cared-for and content in his final days.
