Reba Jo Stevenson Seals

Reba Jo Stevenson Seals was born on November 8, 1948 to Carl and Irene Price Stevenson in Fayetteville, TN. She joined her parents when she moved to her heavenly home on May 13, 2019. She was reared in the Lincoln Community and graduated from Central High School in Fayetteville. She was also a graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN and of Athens State University in Athens, AL. She married James L. (Jimmy) Seals, who survives, on July 21, 1967.

Mrs. Seals worked for 36 years as a civilian for the US Army in Huntsville, AL, retiring in 2004 as the Deputy Project Manager for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Weapon System. However, her true passion and love were always for her family and her desire to follow Jesus Christ. She is survived by son Evan (Karen) Seals and daughter Robin Seals Harwell (Brian); grandchildren Zach Davis, Erin Davis and Tristan Davis, Landon (Heather) Dorn, Zack Harwell and Neyland Harwell all of Fayetteville; Morgan (Shelby) Dorn of New Market, AL, and five great-grandchildren. Additionally, Mrs. Seals is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Thompson-Adams and husband Willie Adams (Elkton, TN) and Eloise (Ronnie) Hudgins of Fayetteville; brothers-in-law Harold (Trenda) Seals, Carroll (Patty) Seals, Tommy (Barbara) Seals all of Lincoln County; sister-in-law Teresa (John) Henderson of Madison, AL; plus several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Seals was a life-long attendee of the United Methodist Church, and member since age 9. The congregations where she worshiped and served were the Lincoln United Methodist Church in the Lincoln Community, the Stateline United Methodist Church (now Genesis) in Hazel Green, AL, and the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. At her current church in Fayetteville, she had been a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader, member of the Partners-in-Prayer program, and a member of the Chancel Choir. In recent years, Mrs. Seals had been blessed to be a part of the Faith-Based Initiative, taking weekly bible studies to locally incarcerated women. She was always thankful for her loving church family, wherever she worshiped.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church or to the Faith-Based Initiative, c/o Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 North Elk Avenue, Fayetteville, TN 37334. The Faith-Based Initiative is a county-wide ministry to and for the inmates of Lincoln County Jail.

Funeral service for Mrs. Seals will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church in the Christian Life Center with Rev. Ann Hatcher and Rev. Whitney Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Higgins Funeral Home.

My heart goes out to the entire Seal’s family. I have been a neighbor to Reba for 20 years and will miss our “yard work” talks and miss seeing her take her morning walks. She was loved and will be missed by many but the Lord needed another Angel so He chose Reba.
