Funeral service for Mr. Ralph E. Parkes, age 95, of Fayetteville, will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Ralston officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery. Mr. Parkes passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Donalson Care Center.
Mr. Parkes was a native of Missouri, the son of the late Donald and Annie Shafter Parkes. He worked for AT&T, was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Van Parkes of Fayetteville, daughter Carol (Tom) Ralston of Covington, TN, granddaughters Gail Perry, Beth Ralston, sister Sarah Parkes of Missouri, 6 step-children and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Mr. Parkes was preceded in death by his daughter Ruth Parkes, brother John Parkes and sister Edith Parkes Becker.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

What a gentleman! We miss seeing brother Ralph at church and will miss our chats about AT&T and other telephone company matters! He was the source of constant personal encouragement to us, and we will forever remember him fondly! May God bless his family. We trust by faith that we shall meet again with the saved of all the ages surrounding the throne of The Eternal One…in the meantime, our deepest sympathy over your loss. Mark and Laura

Uncle Ralph was a dear man. He told us so many entertaining and heartfelt stories. He came into our enormous extended family and loved us all. He was Bri’s only grandfather figure from the time she was a tiny girl. My parents thought the world of him. His memory will last as long as even one of us remains.
His faith, his love of family, and his generosity were genuinely Christ-like. He was an inspiration.

Van. I was so sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing. What a wonderful long life he had. I will miss visiting with him on our visits from Calif. I wish I was there to give you a big hug,Van. My sincere sympathy to you and all your families. Love, Peggy and Family
