Rachel Monks Rutledge

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Rachel Monks Rutledge, age 89, of Fayetteville, TN. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 3:30 pm at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Higgins.

Rachel was born December 18, 1932, in Fayetteville, TN. She passed away peacefully in her home on December 21, 2021. Rachel graduated from Freed-Hardeman Christian College and was a teacher in South Carolina. She also worked as a nursing technician at Sunbridge Nursing Home. Rachel was a member of Stateline Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ben (Bo) Rutledge; son, Philip (Margie) Rutledge; daughter, Helen Goswick; granddaughters, Tara (John) Mole and Kathryn Rutledge; grandsons, Cole Goswick and Timothy Balana; great grandchildren, Lane Ledford, Lori Ledford, Lukas Ledford, and Devin Mole; brother, Mark (Brenda) Monks; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Monks; and several special nieces and nephews; and loving caretaker, Teresa Sajpel. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Ruby Rogers Monks; and siblings, Marie M. Medley, Rebecca M. Shrum, John Lee Monks, and Melvin Rogers Monks.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

I remember I was working at sunbridge as a tech. I’m sorry for your loss. I remember Rachel very well. And her husband as well.
