Phillip Wayne Hastings

Funeral service for Phillip Wayne Hastings, age 78, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Thursday at Higgins.

Wayne was born on October 3, 1943, in Jamestown, Ohio, to the late Hayden Anderson and Gwendolyn Thomasson Hastings. He was a member of Riverside Church of Christ and a former elder with the church. Wayne was a generous supporter and advocate for Riverside Christian Academy. He had a green thumb and enjoyed working in his greenhouse. Wayne passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN.

Wayne loved his family dearly and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Kerr Hastings. To their marriage, they had three children, Joanna Lynne Hastings and fiancé, Andy Belliveau, Lucinda “Cindy” Arnold and husband, Marvin, and Michael Wayne Hastings and wife Sonya. Additional survivors include 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and brothers Lloyd, Boyd (Jeri), Mark (Darlene), and Bruce (Carol) Hastings. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Neal Hastings.

Memorials may be made to Riverside Christian Academy, 116 Riverside Lane, Fayetteville, TN  37334.

To Mrs Norma and Cindy, I am so sorry for the loss of Mr Wayne he put up a long hard fight. We know what when your time comes Mrs Norma he will be patiently be waiting for you at Heaven’s Gate. Bro.Wayne was a caring person always thinking of what he could do for others that set him apart for his service to the church family he served until he had health issues we all loved him and will miss him our hearts go out to ms.Norma who served him faithfully at home our love and support to her God bless you are in our thoughts and prayers love Don,Barbara,Mark Anderson
