Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Mills Brown, age 79 of Hazel Green, AL, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m.at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery beside her husband, William “Bill” M. Brown who died in 2005. Mrs. Brown passed away Monday morning at Lincoln Care Center.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Sheeily Joe and Ruth Winford Mills. Mrs. Brown worked for 32 years at Serbin, and was a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Kathy Witt of Hazel Green, AL, son William David Brown, Augusta, GA, three sisters Jo Ann Moore, Dot May, Sara Cook all of Fayetteville, brother Jerry Mills of Nashville, granddaughters Christy Clements and Brandie Witt both of Hazel Green, AL, Hillary Brown of Fayetteville, grandsons Dustin Brown, Donald (Pete) Brown, Steven Brown, Casey Brown, Cody Brown all of Fayetteville, and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by son Donald Ray Brown and two brothers Larry Mills and Joe Paul Sullenger.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

Diane and David, we know that this has been a hard time for you, seeing Peggy slowly go downhill as she did. I remember the last time I saw her, when Letha was in Huntsville Hospital just before she (Letha) died; I know she wanted to see her sister-in-law one more time. Peggy was a good woman….and that’s a high compliment. She’s at peace now, with Bill and Don, so please try to take solace in that. We love you, Jim and Charlotte

To a woman I loved for 42 years I say the same thing now as I did back then. Don’t worry I will take care and watch over your children. Mrs Brown we had a very special bond you and I that is hard to describe. I would pick at you and call you old woman and you would always smile and our bond grew stronger. You would do anything for me, you were always ready. If I were trying to move a mountain you would say where’s me a shovel? Now I say to you old woman, go up high on the mountain, go to heaven a shouting, wait for the FATHER and the SON. Rest my dear mother for your race is done and we will join you soon.
