Paul Thomas Johnson died August 26, 2010 in Taneytown, MD while visiting family. Born June 10, 1937 to the late Rev. George R. and Olive Ruggles Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Elizabeth (Betty) Johnson, two sons Thomas Paul Johnson of Fayetteville, TN, Jeffrey Paul Johnson of Huntsville, AL, four grandchildren Jonathon Trey Johnson of Dallas, TX, Kasey Lauren Johnson of Fayetteville, TN, Jonica Ann Johnson and Reeanna Renae Johnson of San Diego, CA, one brother Rev. Richard Johnson and wife Shirley of Pine Grove, PA, one sister Miriam Bott and husband Donald of Tucson, AZ, and sister-in-law Vera Johnson of Lancaster, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother Stephen Johnson of Lancaster, PA.
He graduated from the University of Maryland with a BSME, after spending three years five months in the US Navy as a training devicesman. He worked as an electro mechanical designer for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, test engineer for Wyle Laboratories, engineering supervisor, project manager for Teledyne Brown Engineering and finished his 40 some odd years of professional engineering career with The Boeing Company as a member of the NASA Johnson Space Center Flight Payload Safety Review Panel.
He attended St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church and was active as a lay reader, chalice bearer, and vestry person. He loved to sing and did so in church choirs as a bass most of his adult life. He possessed a passion for the outdoors and would spend time on his 36 acres clearing the land or just roaming and admiring nature.
Visitation with the family will be at their home, 126 Boonshill Rd., Fayetteville, TN Monday from 2-8 PM. Funeral services will be at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church Tuesday at 11 AM with Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Interment graveside services will be at 11 AM Friday September 2, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Taneytown, MD.
