Michael Wayne “Mike” Hill

Funeral services for Michael Wayne “Mike” Hill, age 54, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mike was born on January 5, 1971, in Lincoln County, TN, to Linda Carlisle Hicklen and the late Marlon Wayne Hill. He dedicated much of his life to serving others, both through his career as a Tennessee State Trooper and his years spent as a youth sports referee. In recent years, Mike liked the simple pleasures of life, enjoyed watering and feeding the animals at the farm, and found a new passion for playing golf. He was known for his love of a good bargain, especially when found at Goodwill, and for his joy in cooking and watching UT football. He took great pride in watching his children play sports and cherished those moments most of all. Mike also enjoyed visiting Dr. Trahin, whose friendship and care meant a great deal to him. Whether tending to his yard and flowers or spending time with family and friends, Mike brought kindness, humor, and heart to everything he did.

Mike is survived by his mother, Linda Carlisle Hicklen; children, Josh Hill, Rachel (Eli) Flynn, Gus Hill, and James Hill; brother, Ryan (Samantha) Hill; nieces and nephews, Jacob Hill, Eliza Hill, Rylan Hill, Josh Mulholland, and Rhys Mulholland; aunt, Kandy “Kay” Carlisle; and uncles, David (Lynette) Carlisle and Mack (Christine) Hill; cousins, Lori Hill Orth and Matt( Heather) Hill. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Christy Hill.

Memorial donations may be made to Humane Society of Lincoln County, PO Box 37, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Michael Wayne Hill.

We just met Mike in August of this year, he has been such a huge help to us on our family farm. Always a smile and a kind word. He worked hard and loved the land and animals. He said it was so peaceful and told us every day how much he enjoyed working with us. Only a few weeks ago, we talked about life and he said he was a man of faith, so I trust he is at peace. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all of his family , children and friends. From The Lioce Family

To family and friends,
My condolences to family and friends of the Hill family.
Mike was an outstanding football player at Lincoln County HS and they gave me the pleasure of coaching Gus before I retired.
I’m very saddened for our loss and he will be truly missed.
