This is from Mary’s brother Ralph. I am so upset that the present Covid-19 pandemic surge has resulted in my decision to not travel to Fayetteville for Mary’s service.
I am so proud to have been the 8th child of Willard and Helen Barr. I learned so much from Mary and all my brothers and sisters as well as our parents. We were so blessed to have loving Christian parents who were examples of strong faith, dedication to family, an a work ethic that all of us have exhibited. Mary was able to achieve so much in her lifetime in spite of having to endure more than most. She raised her family while working very hard and was a friend and help to many others. She helped her grown children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many ways and I am sure each one of them is so very grateful for her steadying influence in their lives. To Mary’s children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren I want to say I know how deeply you must be grieving. But, draw close to each other and draw strength from friends and family and from God’s promise of salvation for believers and followers of Christ. Although the grief will come in strong waves for a long time, sometimes going through this can help you grow and become stronger.
Mary, I will miss you and I will always remember our times as a large family growing up together the most.

She was very sweet to me on Brookmeade.
