Mary Josephine Hudson

It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Josephine Hudson, age 97, of Flintville, TN. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Flintville First Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday at Flintville First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hudson was born January 5, 1925, in Moore County, TN to the late Ernest Floyd and Lillie Brown Tipps. She was a homemaker, a member of the Flintville First Baptist Church for over 70 years, as well as a fifty-year member of the Women’s Missionary Union. Mrs. Josephine was one of the best cooks in Flintville and was renowned for her delicious caramel and fudge pies. She was also an excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening which led to her being a highly active member of the Home Demonstration Club for many years. Mrs. Josephine instilled the love of family through her joy of hosting gatherings in her home, cooking for and entertaining her loved ones. Mrs. Hudson passed away April 11, 2022.

Survivors include her children, Joe Tom Hudson of Flintville, Judy Hudson Pearson of Huntsville, AL, James (Sherri) Hudson of Coldwater; grandchildren, Marianna (Mark) Coats, Michael (Tina) Hudson, Lori (Mark) Scott, Jennifer (Keil) Bishop, Jamie Hudson, and Parker (Franchesca) Hudson; fourteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren with two more on the way; siblings, Betty Tipps Gattis of Tullahoma, Dudley (Ann) Tipps of Lynchburg, and Bob (Marie) Tipps of Tullahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Hudson; sister, Jean Tipps Kinnard Szabo; brother, Bill Tipps; and daughter-in-law, Dot Hudson.

Memorial donations may be made to Flintville First Baptist Church Building Fund, 264 Flintville Road, Flintville, TN 37335.

Jimmy and family,
So very sorry for your loss. It’s been many years since I have seen your Mom. I do however remember her kind words and wonderful pie. Prayers for all of you.

It was a honor to care for Ms Josephine and spend time with her and the family. It may have be a short time but the memories will last a life time . The 1st memory ( I had gotten a perm and went in her room to let her know I was back . She looked at me and said – you heifer you got a perm ) we laughed. The 2nd one. Jimmy and Judy will know ( Lysol )

We met Josephine at Lincoln Manor when she lived there. We LOVED her. We missed her when she moved. We are so glad we had the chance to know her. Our condolences to her family. She was a special lady.

Prayers for comfort in the loss of your precious loved one. My memories of Ms Josephine are of my time in Tennessee when I worked with the ladies of the William Carey Women’s Association as Director. So many women including Josephine had such an influence on my life. Love and condolences!
