Mary Ellen “Sandy” Sanders

Memorial service for Ms. Mary Ellen “Sandy” Sanders, age 77, of Fayetteville, TN will be conducted at 1PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Barham officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 11 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.

Sandy was born on February 3, 1943 in Cleveland, OH to the late Walter Edward and Iler Marie Caudle Sanders. She was a retired quality engineer from Amana. She loved being outside, farming, golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She attended Spirit of the Cross Church in Huntsville, AL.

Ms. Sanders is survived by her brother, Johnny (Carol) Sanders of Ardmore, TN; niece, April (Jason) Steele of Elkmont, AL; nephews, Steve (Peggy) Sanders of Richland, WA and Barry (Bridget) Sanders of New Market, AL; two great nieces; three great nephews; two great great nieces; and a host of cousins and special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Sanders, Jr.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude, Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 in memory of Sandy.

Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Ms. Mary Ellen Sanders.

In accordance with State of Tennessee Executive Order No. 38 by Governor Bill Lee, social gatherings are limited to no more than 50 participants. I’m so sorry to hear about Sandy. She coached the Amana girls basketball team that I played for, for years….she was the best. She was a very caring person.

So sorry Sandy was a sweet person. One of the first people I got to know when I started to work at Amana in 1969 she will be missed God rest.

Sandy was one of my favorite people to work with at Amana, Goodman , and Daikin. She used common sense in making decisions and was fun to work with.
