Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Smith, age 91 of Flintville, will be conducted Thursday September 17, 2015 at 1 P.M. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Langford and Rev. Josh Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery beside her husband Melvin Winfield Smith. Mrs. Smith passed away Tuesday September 15, 2015 at Fayetteville Care and Rehab.
She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late James Raymond and Lydia Counts Snow. Mrs. Smith was a former employee of Serbin Fashions and a member of the Flintville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include special daughters, Linda Kay (Edward) Bledsoe, Kathy (Wayne) Ward, special grandchildren Brian Bledsoe, Jessie Mercier, Brad (Tara) Bledsoe, Jennifer Morris Smith, Josh Morris, great-grandchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister Jewel Snow.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday September 17, 2015 from 11-1 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Elizabeth was one of the sweetest ladies I have known. She always had a sweet smile on her face and a kind word to say. She was such a beautiful lady inside and out. My prayers are for her family. May God give you peace during this sad time.

I remember as a little boy visiting granny Rose we would go down to Melvin and Elizabeths and visit she allways had a big supper cooked while Melvin would ride us in his old Ford truck my brother and I couldn’t wait to go fish at Melvins pond. She was allways worried we would get snake bit but we went scared. So I say farewell to u sweet lady hope we can all visit again one day!!

We are so sorry for the loss of Mrs. Elizabeth. She was such a sweet kind person and neighbor to our parents (O.E. & Hilda S. Howard) for many years.

My thoughts are prayers are with you. I know how special Elizabeth was to you. She was a beautiful and neat lady and always looked like she had just walked out of a fashion magazine.

“Aunt Elizabeth” as I always knew her, was one of my mom’s (O’Dell “Dell” Smith) closest and dearest friends from their early days at Serbin to my mom’s death in 2009. In the months after Mother’s death, I came across many of the letters she wrote mother over the years. Aunt Elizabeth always had kind, funny and upbeat words to say. She even sent me some sweet cards in the years after Mother was gone. I am thankful for the good friend she always was to Mother.
