Funeral service for Mary Ann Lane Gray, age 77, of Taft, TN will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Hudgins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Higgins Funeral Home.
Mary Ann was born on May 15, 1949, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Howard Benton Lane, Sr. and Nell David Sumners Lane. A 1967 graduate of Central High School, she cherished her lifelong connections with her classmates and never missed a class luncheon. Over the years, she was employed with Scovill and later co-owned and operated Roy and Rogers Western Apparel alongside her late husband, Roy Lee Gray. Faith and community were central to her life as a devoted member of Kirkland Baptist Church. Outside of work and worship, Mary Ann found joy in the outdoors—tending to her garden, maintaining her farm, caring for her cows, and enjoying local travels. Mrs. Gray passed away on August 5, 2026, at HH Lincoln Health.
Survivors include her children, Cindy (Mark) Ballew of Fayetteville, TN, Chris (Robin) Bevels of Taft, TN, and Lee Ann (Chad) Bradley of Taft, TN; grandchildren, Jamie (Andrew) Fultz, Corey (Whitney) Ballew, Wes (Lindsey) Bevels, Branden (Shelby) Bevels, Robert Bevels (Courtney Posey) and the late Tony Lee Bradley; great-grandchildren, Charleigh Paige Ballew, Lincoln Fultz, Harrison Bevels, Grant Fultz, Logan Ballew, Avery Mae Bevels, and another precious great-grandchild expected in February 2027; and her special friends Mary Lee Rennie, Linda Hovis, Wanda Rutledge and her church family and friends at Kirkland Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, husband and grandson, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Benton Lane, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Ballew, Wes Bevels, Branden Bevels, Robert Bevels, Andrew Fultz, and Todd Crabtree of Elkton, TN. Lincoln Fultz, Harrison Bevels, Grant Fultz, and Logan Ballew will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the WMU at Kirkland Baptist Church at PO Box 153, Fayetteville, TN 37334, or the Kirkland Cemetery Association at 222 Childress Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

She was truly a wonderful lady. She made all of our activities special at KBC with her beautiful smile and always made us laugh. Heaven gained a lovely angel and she will be missed so much. Jimmy aggravated her and she enjoyed life. We will treasure her. She loved her family and was so proud of each one of them. Prayers for you all.

Cindy, Chris, Lee Ann and family We were sad to hear about Mary Ann- saw her several times st the chiropractor last Fall- such a sweet lady in His presence and with loved ones- praying for God’s comfort for all of you- Have so many good memories of church snd Roy snd Roger’s next door to us

We were welcomed with open arms by Mrs. Mary Ann and her family when Roy and Rogers became French’s. I had the pleasure of her coming in Wednesday to get a pair of xtratuf boots because Robert had a pair and she needed a pair to work in garden lol, But she went on and on about how proud and happy she was that Brandon and his wife were expecting in February and how Brandon and Robert had spoiled Wes’s children so much that they were going to be wonderful parents, She was bragging on Robert’s fiance’ finishing school and them getting married. She was so excited about all of this. She told me the store looked good and she liked coming in and visiting which was always an honor for us. I spoke with some of the family this morning before posting this but it was like full circle that we got to visit with her Wednesday being she spent so many years here it felt like home…. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we hope to carry on her legacy here with all the great stories and memories she and her family shared with us.
