Funeral service for Marlon Dwayne Laten, age 69 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday April 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Mr. Laten passed away Monday April 13, 2015 at Donalson Skill Care Center.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Laten was the son of the late Jerlie and Bertha Kent Laten, a former supervisor for Huntsville Manufacturing and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Hicklen Laten of Fayetteville, son Kevin Dwayne (Suzanne) Laten of Albertville, AL, daughter Marla Laten Lamont of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Heather Laten (Jesse) Boyle, Brandon Laten, McKenzie Lamont, Gage Lamont and sister Bonnie Laten Gaul of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by brother Harlon Laten and sister Margie Laten Oliver.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening April 15, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CurePSP.org or mail to CurePSP, 30 E Padonia Rd, Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093.

Gary has many happy memories of Marlon in high school band, as well as a business client later. He was a good man. We send our deepest sympathy to Brenda and family. We pray for comfort during these hard times. God bless!

He was a great Father and he loved his family very much. He showed by example how to always show the love of Christ and treat others as you want to be treated. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten and I look forward to a great reunion day with my dad in Heaven.
