Margie Davis Whorley Crane

Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Margie Davis Whorley Crane, age 97, of Petersburg, TN, will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Old Orchard Cemetery.  There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Margie was born on July 12, 1924 in Bedford Co., TN to the late Grady Earl and Kathleen Davis Whorley.  She was a graduate of the Morgan Prep School in Petersburg and earned her teaching diploma from Middle Tennessee State Teachers College (currently, MTSU).  Mrs. Crane worked as a teacher at the Old Lincoln and Belleview Schools.  After teaching, she worked as a cook, baking desserts in the lunchroom at Petersburg where she was known for her homemade rolls.  Margie passed away on August 28, 2021 at Madison Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Kay O’Neal of New Market, AL; granddaughter, Keela Warren; grandson, Tim (Tracey) O’Neal; great-grandchildren, Catherine (Aaron) Compton, Timothy Warren, Alexis O’Neal, Dylan O’Neal, and Victoria Warren; one great-great-grandchild due in February 2022; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Crane; son-in-law, Pete O’Neal; and siblings, Earlene Burrow, W.A. Whorley, Harold Whorley, Clyde Whorley, Iris Bragg, and Jimmy Whorley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

glenda and family so sorry to hear about aunt Margie
passing she was so sweet and kind and beautiful inside and outi have lots of memories about aunt Margie spending the night at their house and going to the store with aunt Margie , uncle James and Glenda and she a great cook and her famous homemade rolls were delicious we love you all .Cindy, Jo-Ann and Steve

I remember the many times I was at the Crane’s home when growing up. My family was always welcomed as neighbors and friends.
