Maizie Lee Marr Cobb, age 98, formerly of Petersburg, TN, was born to the late Robert Lee and Mattie Hudson Marr on August 1, 1919, in the Charity Community of Moore County. After the untimely death of her mother, related to the flu, Maizie’s paternal Aunt Sarah Marr moved in and helped raise Maizie and her younger brother like they were her very own children.
Maizie quietly passed away on January 18, 2018, in Pine Mountain, GA, in the home of her loving daughter, Connie, where she had lived for the past 13 years as dementia gradually progressed.
Mrs. Cobb was a member of the Church of Christ and was a homemaker in the Poor Grab Community of Lincoln County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Thurman Elisha, who died in 1980. In addition, two of her sons, Dr. Joe W. Cobb and Phil Cobb, died in 1972. Her brother, Fred Marr, died in 1992.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie McCuiston, of Pine Mountain, GA and Connie’s children, Joe McCuiston, of Panama City Beach, FL; Rachel McCuiston, of Hiram, GA; and Phil (Aracely) McCuiston of Fairburn, GA.
Her remaining son is Dr. Ted Cobb (Vickie) with children Tom (Alyssa) Cobb, Will Cobb, and Ann Cobb, all of Petersburg, TN.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:30 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
Funeral service is planned for Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 3:30 PM in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Hudson officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and sons in the Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, TN.

Have known Mrs. Maizie and her family all my life. We were neighbors for many years. A special family. Prayers for peace and comfort for her family.

I don’t remember anyone my daddy loved to aggravate more than Mrs. Maizie. My mother has always talked about her unbelievable strength she showed during the years she knew her. She and Mr. Thurman raised four very special people. Hopefully she is being aggravated by my daddy once again.

Maize will truly be missed I have taken care of maize for the pass 6yrs, she was like family to me and my mother who also suffers with Alzheimer’s, I truly loved her and will deeply miss her may she rest with the Lord’s .
