It is with regret that we announce the passing of Lisa Dale Litz, age 59, of Fayetteville, TN. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1pm until 2pm on Tuesday at Higgins.
Lisa was born August 27, 1962, in Lincoln County, TN to Lola Whitaker Gray and the late Stanley Dale Gray. She attended seminary classes at Sewanee and was known by many to be very compassionate and empathetic. Lisa had a true servant’s heart, caring more for the needs of others than for those of her own. She also attended St Mary Episcopal Church and loved working with flowers. Lisa passed away April 1, 2022, at TriStar Stonecrest Medical Center.
Survivors include her mother, Lola Whitaker Gray of Fayetteville; aunts and uncles, Lynn (Warren) Bittner of Wadsworth, OH, Louise Mashburn, Nettie Campbell, Sarah Holder, Linda Mitchell, Chester (Jean) Whitaker, Jackie Whitaker; and several cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Josie.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Animal Shelter, 1718 Pulaski Highway, Fayetteville, TN 37334.

I worked with Lisa for many years with TDOC. She was a sweet lady and she will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to her family.

I worked with Lisa at the Hamblen Co. Sheriff’s Dept. and we became fast long time friends. Lisa is why I became the “plant freak” that I am today. I didn’t know that she was sick, I wish I had known. Sorry for your loss.

Lisa was more a sister than cousin. We shared so much in common and kept in touch by texts weekly sending pictures, talking about anything. We stayed close in heart because We never had the opportunity to live close. We always knew we were there for each other. I can’t imagine life without her being a text or call away. I love her so much. I am glad for the pain she had to end and know she is at peace with my wonderful Uncle Stanley and her dogs Autumn, Chelsea and Josie she loved so dearly. I have such good memories of the Christmas times together growing up and vacations we shared. Lisa will always be in my heart.

I loved Lisa. She was special and we shared a passion for plants. I will miss her especially when we have our cousins together.for lunch. Know that you are in my prayers, Lola, in the loss of your precious daughter. Rest In Peace, Lisa.

Lola, the message I received from you today broke my heart. As I told you, I can’t begin to fathom the loss of a child, of any age. I know what a close bond you and Lisa shared and I am so grateful for the wonderful memories you have to help bring you comfort. Please know that we will keep you in our daily prayers, asking God to give you strength to keep going and the peace only He can give.
