Lillie Sims Moorehead

Lillie Sims Moorehead, age 91 of Fayetteville was born March 12, 1922 and departed this life on March 5, 2014 at her residence. She was a native of Estill Fork, AL and the daughter of the late James O. and Carrie Belle Clark Sims.

She was a retired seamstress with Blue Ridge Shirt Co. (Washington Manufacturing) for 37 years. Mrs. Moorehead was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Secretary and Treasurer for many years. Her solid and never wavering faith in God carried her throughout her life.

In addition to her husband, George Moorehead, she was preceded in death by sisters Virginia and Fannie Sims, brother James Sims and son-in-law Winston Brooks.

Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Brooks of Fayetteville, three grandchildren, Phil Brooks and wife Lori of Ft. Hood, TX, Wendy Lawless of Murfreesboro, TN and Ben Brooks of Fayetteville, four great-grandchildren, Wes and Amelia Brooks of Ft. Hood, TX and Brooke and Rebecca Lawless of Murfreesboro, TN, two sisters Louise Payne and Jean Stephens both of Winchester, TN.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Clardy officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be Friday 1-3 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

I will always remember Aunt Lillie’s sweet smile and kind words. She was respected and admired by so many. She was always supportive and caring to others. I have never heard anything but kind words spoken about her. She will be greatly missed! I will be praying for Carolyn and the rest of the family.
