Funeral services for Lillian Henderson Wilson, age 87 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 AM at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Stewarts Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson passed away Monday morning at her residence.
She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the later Vanion Caston and Myrtle Mae Monks Henderson. She was a flight attendant for National Airlines and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Randall Wilson of Fayetteville, two sisters Jean Henderson and Leona Opkyke both of Fayetteville, three grandsons Joshua, Pershing and David Wilson, half-brother David Henderson of Fayetteville and two half-sisters Paula Baker and Pamela Wilhaite.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband Pershing Wilson who died in 1973.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.

I wanted to write and tell you how sorry I am for your loss. May it comfort you to know that so many people care and are thinking of you and your family at this time. Lillian was such a creative person, and I am so sorry he/she has died. She was a great person I got to know through family genealogy. Sorry I will not be able to attend her funeral services. May the love of family and friends comfort you.

My heartfelt condolences to Lillian’s family and many friends. We talked on the phone only a week ago, and am deeply saddened by her passing. I do know she is at rest with her Lord, and she was prepared for this journey home to be with her creator and Saviour. We were related through my marriage to her cousin, Andrew Forest Cantrell, and have enjoyed a continued relationship through e-mails, telephone and letters. Although miles separated us physically, I will always cherish the memory of our beautiful friendship…

Loved Ms. Lillian. She was a joy to be around and had so many pretty plants. Forever you’ll be in my heart and mind, and I know your in Heaven rejoicing. Prayers are with the family.

I meant to add in my earlier tribute that Miss Lillian and I had good times during moving Archives to the building on Washington Street. She was great help.
