Funeral services for Mr. L. W. Jones, age 89 of Flintville, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Jones and Rev. Jeremy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Jones passed away Sunday at Lincoln Medical Center.
Mr. Jones was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Alex and Ada Hastings Jones. He was retired from the Lasalle Steel Company in Indiana and a member of the West End Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Jewel Plunkett Jones of Flintville, daughter Shirley Ann Parrish and husband Tony of Florence, AL, son Dr. Phillip Wade Jones and wife Karen of Birmingham, AL, grandchildren Wendy Doulin and husband Tim of Nashville, Keri Bedsole and husband Jonathan of Knoxville, TN, Jeremy Jones and wife Sheri of Montgomery, AL, Melissa McCracken and husband David of Vance, AL, Kayla Jones of Birmingham, AL, great-grandchildren Kameron Bedsole, Colin Bedsole, Noah Jones, Micah Jones, Toby Jones, Asher McCracken, sisters Eloise Pruitt of Midlothian, IL, Lois Edge of Atlanta, GA, Bobbie Moore of FL, Doris McInnis of Atlanta, GA, and two brothers James Aaron Jones and John Hoyt Jones both of Decatur, AL. He was preceded in death by brother Donald Ray Jones and sister Lucille Ogle.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening 5-8 p.m. At Higgins Funeral Home.

sister, Martha is at Moore Cortner in Winchester, TN and her visitation is the same time.

What a great reunion is going on right now! I know my dad must have been waiting to give him a hard time! Seriously, what a life, and I feel so very blessed to have been a part of it. Phil and I were as close as 2 buddies can be without being blood, and L.W. and Jewel were like a second set of parents for me. It’s almost like losing one of my own parents again. L.W., From the first day I met you over 50 years ago when Doris & I married, I knew then you where a man of men, a wonderful, loving and caring person. I enjoyed our many conversations. I fell my life has been blessed by knowing you and having you as a brother in law. God speed, my brother, God speed! Aunt Jewel,
I want you to know that I love you and Uncle L W.
I wish we had visited since mom died but everyone has been so busy it seems and time just goes on by. I have great memories of all of use getting together at Grandmother and Grandpa’s as I was growing up. It was so fun when everyone seemed so happy and all were laughing and loving each other.

LW/Brother was one of, and possibly THE finest Christian man I have known. What an example he set for us all! I will always remember his smile and even through his sorrows he could smile for the rest of us.
